My role at selco is an order picker, picking orders from a picking sheet and loading orders onto the vehicles ready for delivery to the customer. it also involves route planning, making sure orders are picked correctly and placed on the vehicle safely so the driver can secure the load.
i have learnt many new skills during my time on the course, i have also developed some of the skills i had already, some of the skills i have learnt on the course are till work, how to do a gap scan and how to work in the goods in area of the store.
i enjoy the course rather a lot, it is very informative and helps with my functional skills as well as having a good impact on my day to day life at selco, it is also helping with my maths and English skills, speaking and listening and has also given me confidence to work on a department other than my own
the programme itself is well structured, the tutor is well organised and is always on hand to help with additional needs, the communication between myself and the tutor is always good and she will always reply to emails regarding the course itself, the information surrounding the course is always on hand from the tutor
selco give a lot of good support in the sense of me needing to work on other departments to fulfil certain areas of my course, there is always something they can offer to assist me in this course and they try to give me time to fulfil needs of this course
i receive a lot of support form realise, my trainer is very approachable and is always on hand to provide additional help if its needed, if im struggling with a certain area then she is always on hand to help via email, the information she provides is very helpful and beneficial
the course is helping in my role at selco as it gives me more confidence to work on another department other than my own, it also gives me a better look at how other areas of the store work and the skills that are needed to carry out certain roles
there are a few extra curricular activities to get involved in at selco, they sometimes organise a night out or a Christmas event which usually involves a staff meal and lots of drinking, sometimes we plan a football night where most of us get together for a kick about and a laugh
Yes
selco is a good company to work for if you are looking to build new skills or improve on skills you may have already, selco also has a good support network for people who may have additional needs that are not work related, someone is always there to offer support
i would give advice to make sure they take advantage of the benefits and support that selco has to offer, to make sure they pay attention when being given advice as it could help and impact their role at selco and help them to become a better employee
