  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My overall role is to ensure the day to day care job is met and supporting my residents to the best of my ability. This includes, bathing, feeding and any personal care. We also make sure safety aspect is met when using the hoist, safeguarding etc. We also make sure the residents are safe and have their basic needs met. We also encourage creativity where possible.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • So far during this course I have adapted the functional skills I need to learn to ensure that I will be using professional writing, spelling and numeral skills. I have learnt more about effective communication and diversity. I know to respect people more and encourage others to do so. I also learnt more about the quality checks etc.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • At this moment I am really enjoying the course and I have already adapted what I have learnt from this to my everyday life. I now feel more confident in the team leader role since doing this course. I really enjoy speaking to my tutor, she is caring and encourages the best from me.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very organized. There is a little routine we have set which suits my job role very well, I don't feel stressed and rushed to do the coursework. I got plenty of time to focus on the new job role and the course itself. I have a lot of support with this.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I get a lot of support from my management team. If I need anything to support my learning I know I can ask and they will support me where possible. If I have any questions or just need help they are always there for me. I also like how they check in on me.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I got a lot of support from my training provider, She is great and very understanding. I feel comfortable with her and if I need any help I know I can go to her. I also like how they have a support hub and I can ask them too support me too.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • This qualification will support my role massively since I have recently become team leader. I feel this will adapt me into my role quicker and I know what to expect and how to support the residents more effectively. Also, I like how this course encourages functional skills which is something I use to have support with.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is no set activities as we are supported living care place. But I always encourage we use everyone's creativity and create things to support their thinking skills. e.g Halloween craft and baking is the next activities I will be setting. I like to encourage the residents to try their best.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Realise to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Overall, I have really enjoyed my experience so far. I like how they encourage me to be confident and the support I get for this is amazing. My tutor is lovely and I feel comfortable with her. I believe Realise is amazing since they don't just focus on the work aspect but also they show compassion and care for their trainee's.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Realise?
  • Personally, I think they will like it and find the support they need and want. Its not all about writing and its more about what you do in your work life which makes it a lot easier. They people at Realise are amazing and support you to the best of their ability.
