My role at USP Steels is in the purchasing department. This means that i purchase our steel and timber. Day to day i complete tasks such as booking on material, raising orders, chasing ETA's and stock list checks. I am also responsible in the test cert department and i save all certs onto our system.
I have learnt multiple skills such as communication skills, leadership skills and time management skills. I am now able to use these skills that I have adapted to progress in my career. I have mastered the communication skill well and i am now able to communicate much more efficiently whether over the phone or email.
I have really enjoyed my programme with LMP and i have been able to learn multiple different things regarding business and administration. Throughout the programme, I have been doing all the work in which i have enjoyed taking part in. I found the programme beneficial to me and beneficial to my role at work.
My programme was very structured in terms of modules and set work. From the start of the programme, I was given introduction work and then from there i started the multiple different modules. Towards the end of the programme i had set time for revision and exam practise which was beneficial to me. The programme was organised well and accordingly.
Throughout my programme i received just enough support from my employer. I was responsible in planning exams and meeting times and i managed my own time without support from my employers. At the start of my programme management supported me and took part in all the necessary apprenticeship meetings that took place.
I supported a high amount of support from my training provider when working towards my qualification. There was always help when I needed and was able to get in contact with Caroline regularly with any questions or enquiries. I received help and answers in a timely manner and i understood everything.
By learning the basic business terms and regulations, this has helped me perform better in my role as i now have more knowledge. I am able to answer emails and calls much more professionally and i am abiding to all relevant laws, regulations and policies regarding communication and many other factors at work.
There are currently a few activities to get involved with at work, especially social activities. There are regular work outings that we can go to and this is classed as team building. As we have a gym facility at our work, we are able to get involved in sports after work also.
