Currently my role is an 'Apprentice Manager' and I am in my second year of the apprenticeship. During the first year I completed a level 2 in retail knowledge as a 'Store Apprentice' On a daily basis I work stock to ensure that products are kept on sale and I also have to make sure that the store is looking presentable to customers at all times. I also have to make sure that all tasks are completed as quickly and efficiently as possible whilst maintaining high levels of customer service. I am currently learning how to run the store and I am being given an insight into what management roles involve and what is needed to become a good manager.
Since starting at Aldi my customer service skills have improved majorly and I am always ensuring that customers are a priority and get the highest levels of customer service. I have also developed my ability to plan certain tasks as an individual and as a team ensuring that any tasks get done as efficiently as possible. Being at Aldi I am constantly learning new skills every day through working with more experienced members of staff than myself.
I thoroughly enjoy the Apprenticeship programme and I am very happy about the skills I have learnt and the way I have adapted to working in this fast paced retail environment. I am also very happy with the support I get from my colleagues and my store manager who always ensures I am learning new things on a daily basis. I am also happy with the support my college assessor has provided me through the course.
I feel valued by Aldi and the members of staff that I work along side. My manager always ensures that I am developing my skills on a daily basis. My work is always appreciated by managers and i always feel like a valued member of the Aldi team.
My course is fairly well organised and I am always aware of when I have meetings with my college assessor and also my manager. I am always aware of the tasks and coursework that I need to complete and my manager will always inform me of any training that I will be receiving in advance.
I always receive a good amount of support from my training provider and they also make sure that if I need anything I can always get in touch with them and they will make sure that any problems or queries get sorted.
I receive a great amount of support from my employer as my senior managers always have time to sit with me and discuss any training and also review my previous performance whilst setting me targets for future weeks.
Generally my salary package meets my costs.
Outside of work I would not say that I socialise with my colleagues on a regular basis but usually around Christmas time there is a night out where staff get together for a meal and drinks as a store team.
Yes
Aldi is a company are continuing to grow and take over the retail market. It's efficiency and great customer service means a good challenging environment to work in and always brings new challenges on a daily basis.
I would advise others applying at Aldi to prepare for challenges mentally and physically. I would say that all hard workers are appreciated and to understand how Aldi as a company work, they are a positive efficient company always open to new ideas.
