I have developed my excel skills as auditing involves a lot of spreadsheets and to ensure you are time efficient, learning shortcuts can be extremely useful. Using tools such as V-lookups can ensure that time is not wasted on doing it manually and ensuring you can meet your deadlines on time.
I enjoy the programme as I can gain experience in auditing whilst doing my university which ensures I can apply the work I do at university to real world situations. It is built up accordingly for the students who can use their time wisely to ensure they complete their ACA exams.
The programme is well structured as it ensures you do 12 ACA exams over your 4 year period at university. Together with doing these exams, you do 3 placements where you can develop your skills from each placement as you learn more about the firm and how they audit their clients.
The support from the employer is incredible as you have a career coach to whom you can share any feelings you may have. Together with this, you have a flying start team who are students who have graduated and work in a permanent role so if you have any questions, you can contact them directly.
The training provider supports us considerably by providing us with the relevant text books needed and give us a personal tutor to whom you can ask questions which you may have. There is also a monthly email which they put out to check upon you to ensure you are working well.
The qualification is essential in completing the role as it provides us with the basics of what auditing consists of and why we do it. Hence when you are working in the real world, you can start to see why we do things in a certain way as they all relate to the theory behind it.
At work, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved post work such as regular work socials with your teams. As well as events, there are sports teams and sports event weekly so you can always join in with other people to take your mind off work and feel at ease.
