I am a IT project manager apprentice within the IT Infra team in RWE. I focus on hosting weekly operations meetings, working on projects with my project team and extended resources, and partaking in QA hosted live events for my apprenticeship and completing work place evidence to submit to my portfolio.
I have learnt multiple valuable skills 6 months into my apprenticeship with my knowledge now being much higher than when I first started. I have shadowed meetings with key resources within and outside my team, as well as partaking in a SCRUM master course to give me insights into agile methodologies.
My programme has exceeded my expectations with great communication, excellent teaching and exceptional structure that has all allowed me to develop as a person and push me to do my best and search for a career remaining in this area.
The structure within my programme has been amazing with the different scheduled live events from QA fitting in well to my schedule, my company also shows great care about my apprenticeship and gives me time and support to get these live events and workplace tasks done. The live events are organised fantastically and are full of beneficial information.
I receive loads of support from my employer as I am given as much time and support that I need to complete my work. They are also always there to help explain things to me again and again if I need it, as well as making me feel extremely comfortable and introducing me to loads of different people that increases my networking abilities.
They are always there and ready to answer me with any questions I have, they have also provided me with the exam syllabus and talk me through anything I am struggling with as well as giving me extra things to do to improve and grow my knowledge even more.
It has given me a lot more confidence when speaking to multiple people, as well as giving me project management methods to include into my daily work to make it more clear to people within my team. They have helped me to make everything run a lot smoother.
My team host different welcome meals and team socials, as well as there being an apprentice social in which present and past apprentices go to in order to become closer and develop friendships. There are also company parties hosted as well as connecting with my team that are based in Germany with the opportunities of travelling over there.
