As the assistant manager of a dual site store my role is to ensure the store is presented to a high standard, the store is compliant to legal and governance, my team are well trained and that the customer service levels are impeccable.
My confidence, communication and problem solving skills have improved. I also took a Microsoft excel course as part of my self development plan which has increased my I.T skills.
I have enjoyed being able to access learning materials and having conversations with my trainer that outside of this apprenticeship I would have been unlikely to have.
The learning plan is set out from day on so it is very well organised and structured. However there is a freedom to how you the learner do your work and that is very refreshing.
My employer is extremely supportive. Anything I have needed whether that be time at work for study or answers to questions I have had they have supported me.
My trainer from Inspiro has been brilliant. She has been approachable and there to help me at any time. She has allowed me space to do my learning without crowding me but also been a pillar of support in and outside of our meetings.
Through out this qualification I have filled gaps in my knowledge, learnt to be more aware and understanding of other people and their challenges and this helps me perform better in my role.
I am not aware of any at the moment.

Matalan creates a family environment within its stores so you always feel like part of a team and not just a number. They make sure your voice is heard and are constantly working to be the best retailer for its staff and customers. The pay is fair and the benefits are beneficial.
My advice if applying for Matalan is to just be yourself. Matalan encourages self expression and diversity; if you have good values and are passionate about customer service then it's the perfect job for you.
