1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is an assistant store manager which consists of carrying out many different tasks and running the store on a daily basis. An assistant store manager is there to hold the store and push sales when the store manager is not there. On a day to day basis, I will take part in team briefs which is a way of delivering key information to the team, pushing sales by doing phase moves, VMing and highlighting the correct product to the customers eyes!

I had developed many existing skills in my role. The more you get stuck into something and familiarise yourself with it, the better you’ll be and the better the results will be!

Matalan is an amazing retailer to work for. Very family friendly and flexible around you and your life. You meet an amazing bunch of people to work alongside and there’s so much to learn. You learn something new every day in retail.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Matalan?

Be yourself, be positive, get stuck in and it’s good to go outside of your comfort zone!
