  • I’m currently a key holder which allows me to open and close the shop by myself. I’m also in the cash office where I have learnt a lot about cashing up etc

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I like that I can do it within my work. It’s fairly straight forward at the moment of what is expected of me.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It’s all online so it’s easy to have access to slot of the time. I’m only really just starting the programme so I’m getting used to things.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • They are supportive of me doing this. They have been able to help me with a few things so far

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • They come and see me once a month to see how I’m getting on etc. They are always an email away if I need anything.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I’m hopeful it will give me more confidence in my current role. But also that it will help me to change roles if I want to progress further.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Matalan to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I worked at Matalan around 4 years ago now. And I came back December 2023. I always had a friendly welcome when working there. The work is straight forward and you know what is expected of you. And I’m very lucky my manager is understanding of hours/workload.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Matalan?
  • Be confident - not always easy however it can help with communication skills which are important for working at Matalan Value your health - I came back to Matalan because of mental health. And they have been very supportive.
