I’m currently a key holder which allows me to open and close the shop by myself. I’m also in the cash office where I have learnt a lot about cashing up etc
I like that I can do it within my work. It’s fairly straight forward at the moment of what is expected of me.
It’s all online so it’s easy to have access to slot of the time. I’m only really just starting the programme so I’m getting used to things.
They are supportive of me doing this. They have been able to help me with a few things so far
They come and see me once a month to see how I’m getting on etc. They are always an email away if I need anything.
I’m hopeful it will give me more confidence in my current role. But also that it will help me to change roles if I want to progress further.

I worked at Matalan around 4 years ago now. And I came back December 2023. I always had a friendly welcome when working there. The work is straight forward and you know what is expected of you. And I’m very lucky my manager is understanding of hours/workload.
Be confident - not always easy however it can help with communication skills which are important for working at Matalan Value your health - I came back to Matalan because of mental health. And they have been very supportive.
