On a day-to-day basis, my role consists of performing provenance research for internal and external clients. I dive into Christies historical records to discover information from previous auctions. I decipher all the details involved regarding previous items and explain this to the clients.
Since becoming an apprentice at Christies, I have developed my personal skills, such as interacting confidently with colleagues and clients. As well as, learning new skills to execute my role, such as deciphering old handwriting, understanding new terminology, and professionally communicating via email and in- person.
This programme is a brilliant opportunity for individuals to be eased into the working world, by being given responsibilities, learning to balance work and modules, and being a part of a team.
The structure of my programme has been carefully thought out. The modules set are cohesive with the day-to-day of my role.
Christies is very helpful and understanding with any struggles or uncertainty within my apprenticeship. It is a safe place to talk about your progress and journey, whilst support is being offered every step of the way.
My training provider is open to listen and understand any difficulties faced when assigned modules or group tasks when I am not 100% clear. It is a comfortable space to discuss and adapt anything which is not fitting for your role.
The skills which are performed in my qualification can be adapted and used in my role. They open my mind up to different pathways which I had not previously considered.
At Christies there is always lots going on to contribute to and join in. Such as, sporting activities, different groups to join and hosted events.
Yes
I would recommend Christies to a friend as it is such an exciting and unique experience to be apart of. There are so many opportunities within Christies which you can be apart of.
My advice for others applying to Christies would be to be yourself, have an open-mind to any opportunities which are given to you, and just go for it!
