Supporting two Relationship Managers with their portfolios, arranging and attending meetings, managing KPIs for the respective portfolios, supporting lending and deals, day to day banking needs of the customer.
I have learnt, soft skills like customer interaction, diary management and a methodical risk driven approach. Additionally I have learnt sector specific products and about Real Estate lending and a myriad of banking products.
I have had lots of fun in my learning journey within the apprenticeship. I have a supportive and engaging team and a mix of good mentors. This has led to exciting deals and variety in my professional life which I am thankful for. Additionally the programme is relevant and comfortable to work with.
I have found the breakdown of the exam portion followed by the assignment structure very easy to work with. It is digestible bit-by-bit, this makes for an easy and effective learning experience, however I did sometimes struggle with the C. 4 week turnaround of the assignments as work can get in the way to cause additional pressure.
I have found the support from my employer to be excellent providing guidance and coaching at all of the key moments. Most importantly I have been allocated sufficient time to focus on my apprenticeship work and an equal amount of care and diligence is allotted to my learning and growth as well as my day job.
I have received considerable support from my training provider during the duration of my exercises and exam, I have found both of my coaches easy to reach and engaged in my leaning and development.
Whilst I don't believe the qualification can absolutely reflect my role 1:1, the broader softer skills are much better applicable and result in being able to reflect on my progress and allows me to think and document the skills and knowledge I am gaining as I spend more time in role.
Working in Real Estate Finance, I have plenty of opportunities to attend networking events and meet people across the sector, I've attended auctions and market events, we also make a habit of conducting team socials and events to increase our team chemistry and get to know one another outside of work.

I showed up knowing nothing and I was taught the ropes, with good coaching and well set expectations. The growth possibilities are endless and there is a huge diversity in roles, I feel like at a firm like NatWest you can work a dozen jobs throughout your career and never have to leave the Bank. There is also an endless focus on personal development and learning is nurtured.
Be prepared and be yourself, people can tell a script from a mile off. Be confident in your experiences and your offering to the Bank. Be ready to work hard, it can be challenging to balance work and learning, but rest assured it's plenty supportive. Think about how yours and the Bank's values might align.
