  • As civil engineer apprentice in the railway sector some of the day to day tasks include design, collect information, research or inspect asset that have civil engineering interest.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Although I was familiar with 3D software such as AutoCad, my work enables me to learn more on the topic and maintain my existing level.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the program as I am very interested in mechanics and design. The people that support my development are very helpful and supportive but also the University is delivered remotely. That allows me to use my time more efficiently.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well organised, from university but also from the company.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The company allows as a 20% off week to focus in study but also provides study leave to help with the challenging days. In an ideal word a 40% off from work would be great as study work is quite challenging.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Overall there is no complain as no support was needed. Although, tutors are very helpful with responding for any questions even on weekends.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As we are building on fundamental knowledge in the first years of university, there is no corelation between the materials. Over time though, the combine knowledge will help to shape a better understanding and methods of assessing and resolving engineering problem.

  • There is events from time to time.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Arcadis to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Arcadis provides a great opportunity to work and learn in the same time. The company's culture if fantastic and the people are very helpful and supportive. Also, you are exposed to engineering work since day one which that build valuable experience in comparison with the traditional uni route.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arcadis?
  • The company is interested in the real "you", so be yourself and feel comfortable and confident to speak your mind.
