I have worked on large and smaller-scale projects. I am tasked with using different software to produce engineering drawings, and schedules in line with Arcadis procedures and standards. I assist other less experienced engineers where I can, or point them in the direction of someone who can.
I have both learned new skills and developed existing skills. I have learned many technical skills such as proficiency in design software and knowledge of standards used in highway design. I have also developed my soft skills such as communication and collaboration.
I enjoy my programme as it allows me to work on interesting projects and build on my technical skills. Whilst also attending university and working towards a BEng. I also enjoy the added responsibilities I am given as I progress through the programme.
The programme is well structured. I get 20% (1 day a week) of my time to study either at university or online as well as additional exam study leave. Additionally, I am pushed to work towards chartership with regular catch ups with my mentors,
I receive a lot of support from my employer. This can be in the form of more senior staff members answering any questions I have, internal training modules, exam study leave and regular apprentice support meetings.
I believe my qualification helps me to understand better the theoretical reasoning behind what I am doing in my role.
There are regular after-work social activities e.g. mini golf, bowling, and dinners. Additionally, there have been opportunities to attend professional networking events through Arcadis.
Yes
I would recommend Arcadis as they are very supportive of career progression and finding opportunities suitable to my needs.
Prepare properly for the interview by researching the role/company and any potential questions you may be asked.
