  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • So far my role requires me to make updates to highways As-Built drawings using CAD and making effective use of excel to update schedules according to a redline drawing from the contractor who we work alongside to provide information for the As-Builts.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Pretty much everything I do on a day-to-day basis is a new skill for me I previously had very little experience with excel and virtually none on autoCAD, I now use both of which daily now to complete tasks assigned to me.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My program is extremely enjoyable in comparison to the rigid structure of school or my old jobs, flexible working means I can change my hours so that they suit me better whether that means arriving early or leaving late it means I can do the things I enjoy outside of work without them impeding on the standard of my work or morale

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program is extremely well structured, there is regular goal setting at my work so that I have something to aim for and a marker to check my progress. The university work is well planned out and easy to follow along with

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer provides plenty support. I feel I can always contact my line manager and we are provided extra study days for exams to help us get on well with our university work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The university despite being online works extremely well, a majority of the time the lecturers are available via email and some even provide drop in style calls we can join to ask any questions we may have

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The university work can definitely be beneficial but so far I haven't come across much application to my job

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are social events relatively regularly across the departments most recently the Christmas dinner which was fun

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because of my personal experience so far, I get on well with co-workers and feel as though the path I have taken suits me and would suit others


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Arcadis?
  • To try and convey time where you have worked as a team and communicated well with others as much as you can
