  • My current role at Arcadis involves providing crucial support to senior professionals in managing and controlling the costs associated with our construction projects. . I collaborate with senior cost consultants to develop and manage project budgets, allocating costs to different project components. Throughout the project lifecycle, I monitor expenditures to ensure they align with the approved budget. Cost control is another key focus area. I will monitor project costs against approved budgets, analyse variations, and contribute to implementing strategies for effective cost control to keep the project on budget. My role involves estimating costs on a project.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed skills in cost management and quantity surveying. Contract administration has been another focal point of my learning, requiring a keen understanding of contractual agreements, identification of key terms and conditions, and ensuring compliance by all parties involved. I have since enhanced on my communication skills as it is vital to keep updated when working on projects. I have completed training through different system providers to develop my skills.

  • I really enjoy the programme that i am on, my positive experience is the collaborative nature of the work environment and the opportunity to work closely with my colleagues. The collaborative aspect of the program has not only enhanced my professional growth but also made the overall experience more fulfilling. The support and guidance from senior colleagues play a crucial role in my professional development within the apprenticeship program.

  • The organisation structure is very clear, well-organized and efficiently designed to facilitate smooth operations and effective collaboration. There is a focus on employee development through training programs, mentorship, and continuous learning opportunities. This investment in professional growth contributes to the overall competence and effectiveness of the workforce. I have been encountered situations where i required assistance and find it very easy to reach out to my line managers or seniors that i work with to help resolve any issues.

  • I am very happy with the amount of support that i receive from the employer. Both work related and academically for my university is incredibly supportive throughout my time here, making my work experience positive and fulfilling. Arcadis is committed in investing in me by hosting events which are insightful and would help in my development.

  • I receive a substantial amount of support from my training provider. The academic guidance they offer is valuable, providing assistance with course materials, assignments, and a better understanding of complex concepts. . Regular feedback on assessments is provided, allowing me to progress and identify areas for improvement. I appreciate the mentorship opportunities offered by the training provider.

  • I believe that the current learning that i am receiving through my training provider is helping me to perform better in my role and has notably enhanced my job performance. The structured knowledge and practical skills acquired during the training has equipped me to execute my tasks more effectively. Additionally, the sense of community fostered by the training provider, whether through online forums or discussion groups, has been beneficial for sharing experiences and collaborating with peers. The training provider also recognizes the diverse needs of learners by offering flexible schedules, online learning options, and accessible resources. This flexibility has allowed me to tailor my learning experience to suit my preferences.

  • One notable aspect is the monthly socials, where colleagues gather to unwind, socialise, and foster stronger connections. These events provide a relaxed setting for team building and cultivating a sense of camaraderie among colleagues. This allows me to create a stronger network which will be beneficial going into the future. There are monthly meetings that keep everyone informed and engaged. These gatherings serve as a platform to discuss updates, share important information, and ensure that everyone is on the same page. For those inclined towards physical activities, there are sport activities such as table tennis. This not only adds an element of fun and friendly competition to the work environment but also encourages a healthy and active lifestyle among employees. It provides a refreshing break and promotes a positive work-life balance.
