Overseeing Subcontractors accounts, processing payment, Assessing AFP's, Change Control, Final Accounts, Tenders, communicating between the delivery team to help ensure project success.
Since starting on the Project I have gained an understanding into contracts cradle to grave. I am now confident in managing the 5 no accounts I look after which shows how much i have developed since joining with no existing skills.
I enjoy my apprenticeship as it allows me to get valuable on the job learning whilst still gaining a qualification that is recognised within the industry. I think gaining on the job experience is one of the most important things that anyone can do as it allows you to fully understanding the inner workings of construction projects.
My day to day job is well structured and we have good organisation within the team, my course is run 1 day a week upon which a lesson is delivered in relation to our assignments. I think the structure of the programme is very good and it insures flexibility.
Generally i can ask my line manager and other questions about my learning and ask them for advice or guidance if need be, everyone has always been happy and willing.
Due to my training being online its not as simple as being in a classroom, however the tutors are on hand if need be and we are more than welcome to send an email and voice our concerns.
I feel that my qualification provides me with the necessary knowledge to undertake my job as well as to help give me a better understanding of the industry and its inner workings.
Within my work place there are often social activities which allow networking within the work place.
Yes
They have been able to provide my with the necessary resources to gain valuable industry experience as well as undertake a qualification to be able to work towards a professional status.
If you are considering applying for Costain, I would to it as they are a great company to work for, employees are friendly and the company is more than willing to support the professional development of staff
