My role day to day sees me manage payments to sub-contractors, having meetings with both the sub-contractors and the client, writing forecasts and composing invoices. I also take part in evalting the work that has been done by sub-contractors to ensure they are paid the right amount. This takes the form of me walking around site, measuring sketches ect.
This apprenticeship has taught me plenty of skills regarding how to be a good QS such as cost managing, time management, making data clear and understandable. It has also taught me a lot regarding personal skills like presenting or speaking to a wide group
Very much so, from always having work todo, ensuring I have plenty of opportunity to work and meet new people on new schemes as well as having really fun training opportunities such as at the Brathay Trust
Plenty of training at the right intervals, gives me time to learn a lot from a scheme before moving me on to a new scheme allowing me to continuously develop my skills
As much as I want when I need it, I always have people to reach out to to ask for support in my day to day role or if I have a question about something more general.
As much as I feel I need, my LM have been happy to sit in during meetings with my uni if needed, they ensure I have ample resources, allow me to speak to experts when needed
