I am based on site, working alongside the office team (agents, other engineers, foreman) and site team (ground operatives) to collectively build the project using drawings and engineering equipment.
Extracting data from drawings and specifications nd applying this on-site, swell as using engineering equipment. Communication skills with stakeholders, suppliers and team members.
I enjoy the programme as it is tailored so that you can learn valuable skills on site that may not be taught at university. It has helped me prepare the start of my career path well.
It is well structured, and allows time to study/revise for exams.
There is support from my manager, the Earlycareers team, the apprentice managers, my SE/DE and the College. I am able to go to a range of people if I need support.
I receive support from the apprenticeship manager and my tutors. they are always ready to help and are understanding that we also work on site.
It has helped me understand the commercial aspect of my role that I may not be involved in such as contracts and programmes. It has also helped me understand the design side which is also not something I am heavily involved in.
There are many hosted by YoungBAM including site visits and social events.

I feel well looked after and the company is always looking to improve. The benefits they provide are also amazing.
With any apprenticeship, learn to manage your time well. With the support from BAM, you should be well prepared.
