My role consists of working through EWRs which could range from jobs such as building turbochargers, balancing units, preparing them for testing, or assembling units to test cells to run tests.
I have developed my hands-on skills with assembling mechanical parts such as turbochargers and equipment within test cells. I also have the skill of running tests at cells such as compressor mapping, turbo variation tests, and multi-hysteresis tests.
I enjoy the work that I do and the people that I work with.
I am able to go to other technicians for help or for a job when needed but the training organization could be better for apprentices. It could also be improved by apprentice leaders being in touch with apprentices to see how we're getting on.
I know that I can go to my supervisor or manager if I am in need of any help with work or personal issues. My apprenticeship assessor is also helpful if I am concerned with anything.
If I needed help with college work, my teachers would help me to better understand the task at hand but I think that organization could be better for students and classes and some teachers could try more to engage the class and help us to understand the learning more.
Some assignments have been relevant to my work and have helped me to better understand subjects such as viscosity of liquids (helps when working with oils and different temperatures). It has also simply broadened my knowledge of engineering which could be helpful in the future.
There are; there are groups who go on walks/hikes and football matches that take place often.
