  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I take part in weekly meetings with my team, shadow them in meetings they are in and learn about the clients and insurers we work with. I also have regular 1-1 meetings with my team members to go over new learning and help me with tasks I have been set, such as reviewing a client and what insurance they need.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have managed to build on my team working skills and communication skills which I had from my previous job, which has been helping me to grow my confidence in my new job. I have also been able to enhance my problem solving skills when it comes to dealing with new problems.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy the group coaching sessions as we get to discuss the work rather than just listen. However, due to the back and forth with my apprenticeship they have been difficult to keep track of due to the change in course.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My course has been unorganised due to being placed on a course at the start which was not relevant to my job role at all, and the stress of completing an exam on something which I was not familiar with was difficult. It took a lot of back and forward to get me on a right course, causing me to jump up a level in order to complete my exams within a certain amount of time, meaning I would say it was not very structured or organised.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my team and my manager who have been helping me alongside the apprenticeship and the troubles that have come from it. They have went above and beyond to help me with my studying, as well as giving me time to do my learning and helping to sort out my programme.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have received lots of support from my coach who has been very helpful from the very start. She has encouraged me and went out of her way to support me in my learning and with the change of my course.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My new course that I am doing has been much more beneficial now than my previous one, and has allowed me to gain experience from other teams at Aon to help further my learning.

    7/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • As we work with insurers, we get to go to various events with them whether it is social networking events or lunches. I also have made friends alongside my job and have been able to get involved in broker events that have came around for me.

    6/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend Aon to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Everyone makes you feel very welcomes and helps to encourage you no matter who you are or what your knowledge is. There is also lots of learning opportunity and benefits that come with the job.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aon?
  • That networking is one of the most importance aspects of this job and it will make work so much easier by having contacts, so you always know who to go to for whatever help you need. And to also experience the different learning routes and if something is not working, speak up.
