The role entails working through all aspects of project controls: governance, reporting, administrative work etc. I learned to analyse data, create reports and collaborate with various teams to ensure projects stay on track. The hands-on approach and mentorship made the learning process highly effective.
Proficiency in project management software, data analysis, and report generation. Certain responsibilities learnt have included monitoring project budgets, analysing cost trends, creating accurate schedules, and collaborating with different teams to ensure project objectives are met. Additionally, I have developed effective communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
My overall experience at Mace has been great. I've been given the opportunity to work across all sector of project controls- reporting, governance, project co-ordination- there still aspects I've yet to explore, however, it's all a working process. The people and work environment are pleasant and I'm never afraid to speak up and ask any questions to further my learning in this particular industry.
I would say that the programme is well organised with a structured curriculum. There are clear learning milestones, hands-on experiences, and mentorship that creates a comprehensive and effective educational journey. This well-thought-out structure enhances the overall learning experience and prepares apprentices for success in project controls.
I receive strong support from my employer as each apprentice is assigned a dedicated line manager. This structured approach ensures personalised guidance and fosters a supportive learning environment throughout the apprenticeship programme. Regular review sessions are also in place for continuous improvement within the apprenticeship program.
The training provider are always responsive for any question/ query that may arise- or even additional support for assignments e.g. access to learning material.
The qualification provides insight to why certain systems/ structures are in place in regards to project controls.
There are always socials among grads/ apprentices, training events for all apprentices and diversity networks that foster inclusivity within the work place e.g. 'women at mace' etc.
