My week can be very varied however day to day I go up to site and work from there. It includes activities like litter picks, just an hour activities where we donate time to help the community, organising events, dealing with customer queries and putting out updates to the public regarding ongoing works in their area.
I am much more confident and assertive especially when voicing my opinion. I enjoyed English whilst in my previous education but now I can write in a variety of styles depending on the piece of work I am completing to make sure it is more formal and informative. I have always been very prompt however this apprenticeship has developed my time management making sure I stick to all deadlines and prioritise certain activities.
I love it I have found something I would like to do as a career and also what industry I would like to be in. It is not something I imagined doing however constantly learning about the industry especially from experienced staff members makes it very enjoyable.
My programme is structured both through my learning provider and JN Bentley themselves. There are learning and development sessions/pathways throughout the duration of the apprenticeship to improve confidence, social skills and professionalism. With my apprenticeship it progresses depending on how quickly I have completed the work with my tutor there for guidance.
I cannot fault my employer as from the start I was made really welcome and there were pathways outlined for me to ensure I felt supported all the way. I am not stuck doing this job forever and they make sure if I have any interests in other aspects of the industry they will try their best to let me explore that.
Although I am very good at working independently I find it challenging sometimes with the training provider in terms of being able to contact them and stick to a schedule as it is difficult to fit last minute meetings in day to day.
I am doing a business administrator apprenticeship which includes topics such as project management, regulations and policy, the organisation as a whole. Everything is relevant to the projects I am working on and I can understand how each component effects the progress of other peoples jobs.
There are multiple activities and networking events happening over the course of each year. We have a group of ECPs (early careers professionals) which we go network or attend seminars with other offices around the country. This really helped me make connections even within the same office and find people who I can rely on if needed.
Yes
Its a great opportunity to work for them as I have learned so much in six months. You can earn while learning which is brilliant especially with the wage they provide.
