My day is varied, and managed largely by myself. Sometimes I work independently to review outputs such as websites. Other times I work alongside research team to develop my research skills. Work is very flexible and understanding of my situation and the importance of protecting my time.
Both. Prior to starting the role I had been out of work for three years due to disability. I have been nurtured and encouraged to develop existing skills and learning new ones. Free full access to LinkedIn learning really helps! MMU RISE is also amazing for this.
It felt overwhelming in semester one, however now it feels like we are all finding our feet and settling in. The uni staff and our co-hort are really supportive and non-judgemental. There's a good mix of levels & ages which makes the experience more enjoyable.
It is well organised, starting with the basic theory and mixing this with practical tasks (some individual, some group) to help solidify learning. It is also good that all module projects link together so it feels like less work than separate assignments.
Lots. My employer is really supportive and if I need more time to focus on Uni work than work projects, that understanding is always there - as long as I communicate effectively and show the same respect when something extra is expected from me (e.g working outside of normal hours)
Again, a lot. If not the course tutors, we have study skills tutors and a huge amount of resources available online to support.
It aids me to work independently and not rely too heavily on others as a junior employee in a very small business.
Yes, work holds socials every quarter - some online, some in person and we do extra activities during certain times of year - e.g Christmas crafts, pancake making on pancake Tuesday.
Yes
The flexibility, the human element - no big corporate meetings & frigid office!
Be yourself, be honest!
