My role within the finance department here to to both learn and work at the same time, through out my time here I will be working with each individual team learning their daily tasks and about their responsibilities. It's a great opportunity as I am getting experience from all departments available which is really opening the door for my future career. I do have my own small responsibilities but these are small and manageable so it allows me to have the time to learn about each team to the fullest.
I'm constantly learning new skills and developing my current ones. For example, Before working with Savills I had little to no experience with Microsoft excel but after spending just under 2 months with one specific team I can successfully run a very specific report for whenever one is needed.
I really enjoy my program with Savills, I honestly had no clue that their apprenticeship in Finance/Accounting would be anything like I'm doing right now. It has totally exceeded my expectations within all aspects, The apprenticeship team is amazing and they really look after their apprentices. I'm very lucky to be working for Savills.
My program is very organised and structured as I am changing teams constantly within the finance department, so to be able to complete my first year I will need to be on a tight schedule with each team to be able to to experience all teams before the end of the year.
I receive a lot of support from my employer, I have had some issues recently with my training provider but these have been quickly resolved and dealt with. Which honestly was amazing as I expected the worst possible out come but luckily the all the teams had my back and helped mw with it.
There was definitely a miscommunication between myself and my tutor regarding what support I need as I have ASD. But this is currently ongoing and I am waiting for the outcome of the issue being raised with their company. But other than that I would have to say that their support system is moderately ok.
My qualification is very relevant to my role as I'm currently studying for my AATs, the qualifications has allowed me to have a better understanding of the processes behind the tasks I am completing and why some specific steps are necessary and important.
I engage with networking at any given time, I often attend all apprentice events when I have been invited to them. But I do network with other employees within Savills.
Yes
I think that Savills is a great employer with a competitive salary and an excellent support system for all apprentices. And I feel as if you aren't treated as if you are just an apprentice, you have your own responsibilities and tasks to complete on a day to day basis.
My number onw tip for those applying is have faith and confidence that you can do it. It may seem scary and unlike any situation you have been in before but it will be one of the best decisions you ever make, it truly has been one of the best decision's I have made.
