As a dental nurse, I have duties that extend from assisting the dentist chairside, disinfecting and sterilising dental instruments, and helping reassure and comfort patients. Sometimes, I even help with reception duties which involves booking in patients, triaging and handling payment transactions.
I have developed time management skills as well as foresight. Planning ahead sets you up for success and ensures a smooth workflow.
I thoroughly enjoyed the structure of the course. Everything was organised and set to a timetable so I knew what topics would be covered, and I had the support of my assessor with difficult topics.
The dental nurse course was well structured so much so that my practice manager, work mentor, assessor were all aware and up to date of my progress.
I felt that I had ample opportunity to address and bring up any areas of the course that I was struggling with.
I was happy that Tempdent provided additional resources to allow for clarification. Also, the webinar tutor was very encouraging and was willing to stay behind to answer any questions that I had during the webinar that I felt too shy to ask.
I felt that during my qualification, I was undoubtedly the most knowledgeable in my team when it came to HTM 01-05, among other topics as I had just learnt the topic. I felt that the qualification helped to revive some workplace practices that were a little lax or overlooked.
No, although we do have the annual christmas party.
Yes
I felt that from the angle of my practice, my mentor, myself as well as the assessor, we all knew how I was faring in my course. Whether I would be on track to finish or whether I'm struggling. I know that other course providers aren't so transparent.
Take advantage of the resources of the team as well as the documents given. Other course providers aren't so forthcoming.
