I am the restaurant manager. This role includes job such as, team management, rotas, ordering, stock levels, managing stock levels, team incentives, cash reconciliation, online training, in restaurant trainer, personal Lisence holder, inductions, guest satisfaction, cellar management, consumable orders, drink and food orders, bookings diary, key control safety, supporting the kitchen.
I have broadened my knowledge on all areas of the restaurant working closely with my general manager and team. I am constantly learning new things, such as ways to deal with stock issues, staff issues and much more. My manager is always there to support this. I am closely learning health and safety procedures more in depth.
I am enjoying my apprenticeship and working on new ways to learn throughout the business. I am finding it great to spend my time concentrating on new learning as well as supporting two team members on their apprentice journey as well. I am nervous for the end point assessment but I appreciate the work my colleague is putting in with me.
Very well. My colleague gives clear expectations of what needs to be completed. They have been there to support me throughout my journey so far and has answered any questions I have. The online module is very clear of the set tasks and explain them in depth to a very high level.
I am working closely with my general manager to help me complete my apprenticeship. I have worked closely with the kitchen manager also who has helped tremendously over the past few months with stock knowledge. I would like more one to one time with my general manager to discuss options for learning.
I can always rely on my manager to be there if I need anything answered. They check in all the time to help me with anything that I need direction in. I have found it a very pleasant experience. I can see visually where I am on the lifetime online portal.
I am really digging in to the online learning which is going in to everything in depth. I feel this knowledge has changed the way I manage my team and having better knowledge can help my relationship with staff. I can see that the learning marries up with my leadership in site.
As a restaurant manager I do not get invited into the events. Further to this, when I become a general manager there will be opportunities to attend events such as the PI&R events and also the win card events. My general manager attends these and says they are great.
Yes
The company is great to work for. It includes many opportunities to progress your career. I have made many of friends whilst working here. I can say that I thoroughly enjoy my job. I have progressed my knowledge with the help of my apprenticeship and can’t wait to see where it gets me.
I would offer advice such as make time for friends and family and try not to over work yourself during the busy periods. And to understand that during quieter periods they can only offer you your contracted hours. Be careful with money during these. To keep a good relationship with your team and management team.
