Providing business wide assurance, across a range of subject areas such as IT, Operations, Legal etc. Report writing and recommendation follow up, with key reporting to members of senior membership. Audit testing and review of evidence, with process review and system audit included.
Overall the course has provided a good foundation in key skills relating to more formal audit roles. I have a background in audit based roles, but not as structured as Internal Audit - and the apprenticeship has provided a good grounding in the principles of the role.
Overall, I really enjoy the programme - the sessions are well put together and my tutor is really engaging. The cohort is also really diverse which allows for a lot of good interaction, and the balance of workload feels pitched at a very suitable level, both in difficulty and amount.
I think it's well structured, the pacing feels right to allow for keeping up with both the workload and the day to day job. The subjects of each session seem to flow into each other well, and there is a good balance of new learning and revision of existing subjects.
A lot - I have been very luck to work with a manager who is fully supportive of apprenticeships and making sure I get the time and resource to complete the work, and they also support my learning by aligning current workload and subject areas to the work being undertaken in the programme.
Huge amount - my tutor from MBKB has been fantastic, providing well structured sessions, informative 1-2-1s, and allowing for flexibility in deadlines to allow for day to day work. His feedback has always been constructive and he goes out of his way to provide additional support in the form of useful documents / articles etc to support additional learning.
The learnings have been extremely useful in getting to grips with the concepts of Internal Audit and a lot of the more formal structure (involving the external standards and expectations, as well as different models of work). I feel that the course has provided me with more knowledge in order to hit the ground running with my role and develop into the stronger position I am in a much shorter space of time than without it.
Historically, there used to be several professional networking events however due to budget constraints these have reigned back in recent years. Other events are generally difficult due to geographic distribution of the team.
