ICT Support Technician, working in a school environment to assist with hardware and software related issues. On a day-to-day basis, this often consists of; troubleshooting technical issues, long-term network planning, system building, administrative tasks and troubleshooting. Also consists of gaining a broad range of IT experience whilst completing my job.
I have developed my existing IT-based knowledge and skills both on the job and through my apprenticeship with Baltic Apprenticeships. Some examples include frequent IT learning sessions, one-to-one support with a mentor, gaining technical experience whilst on the job and being able to shadow my colleagues and mentor when troubleshooting tasks.
I definitely enjoy my program and enjoy learning, in particular I enjoyed sessions where I would be taught something IT related and would then be tasked to do related practical work. I do have to keep myself motivated to complete the longer written tasks, but I feel satisfied when I'm able to complete them.
My program is both well organized and well structured, it provides an easy to understand website for me to store all of my progress and projects where I can complete time logs and submit completed work. Assigned tasks are mostly straightforward and accessible, however it is still up to me to make notes and keep track of them as it can be easy to get confused without doing so.
I receive plenty of support from my employer and I couldn't ask for more. I have their full support in my workplace and I know that if I struggle I'll always be able to reach out for assistance and help. They are always available to teach me and also give me the time to work on my apprenticeship.
My training provider is also as equally supportive, and has been incredibly lenient and understanding which has allowed me to work at my full capability. Without it, I may have struggled throughout my apprenticeship. The regular review sessions also ensure that I don't fall behind on work should I begin to struggle.
I feel that this qualification will allow me access to more opportunities in the field of IT alongside acting as proof of my experience gained throughout this course.
Not that I am aware of, not for my IT group at least.
Yes
Thorough support and high quality teaching.
Make sure you know that you want to get in the field and understand what you're signing up for job-wise.
