I am a kitchen and bathroom designer. In my day to day role, I produce room designs, liaise with customers and trade contractors to establish their wants, needs and thoughts on designs. I also take calls with questions from customers, place orders and have contact with suppliers to get information for customers and orders.
When I started in January I was brand new to this industry, everything I have learned (through both the job and apprenticeship) are new skills. Including design process, quoting, order placing, quality customer service, etc.
I really enjoy learning new things day to day, though I sometimes struggle on busy weeks to make time for my apprenticeship, the coaches from LEAP are very friendly and supportive and encourage me to work with them and let them know if I have found any challenges and they are more than willing to help in any way they can. They also encourage me to liaise with my manager and bring up any issues I may have with them as they have the authority to ensure I get sufficient time for my apprenticeship work.
Very well organised! I have a training plan set out for the whole year, so anything I learn early on I can contribute to future tasks and I am well prepared for each module I will be taking well ahead of the due date. My coach and support system also have made sure to keep acknowledging dates and ensuring any resources I may need to complete modules are given to me with sufficient enough time to process the information and use it for my work.
Lots! They ensure I have enough time for my apprenticeship work, check in on how I'm doing, both in the job role and apprenticeship role, and are there to help me if I come to them with any struggles I may have.
Lots. I have a coach who is available for any help i may need throughout the course and she also provides good feedback on work so i can do better.
Really well.
We have some days of team building over the year. In our branch the staff create their own groups for activities, like theres one for running
Yes
It's very welcoming and friendly, efficient and supportive
Just be yourself. Don't boast too much experience if it's not true you have it, they're more than happy to help you learn
