  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work with a maintenance team at different sites and change placements every 6 months. I am at RAF Brize Norton at the moment and have just come from London Gatwick Airport. Whilst getting on the job training i am also completing a level 3 NVQ and have already completed a level 2 NVQ and A-Licence exams.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned many new skills, i don't know where to start because i have grown so much in many different realms but to list a few: my hand skills, my understanding of how things work, how companies operate, life skills in gereral, communication skills, and many many more.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy it massively, i have always had an interest in engineering and every day i learn new things and improve my skills. the teams at every site do the most they can to support me. By working on aircraft daily i now have a responsibility of upholding flight safety which is nerve racking but exciting.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Boeing is a multi billion dollar company so the organization and how its structured is mind blowing. Their efficiency of getting things done is unmatched. this filters down to every aspect of the company including the apprenticeship. it is extremely easy for me to contact anyone who i needed to and i am directly involved in the companies structure.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am supported in every aspect of the apprenticeship, weather its support towards my NVQ to supporting my growth in understanding the aircraft and hand skills. Boeing also have ongoing projects that they involve me with where they support me so i can excel in completing the project to the best of my ability.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider ALS help me out massively, they clearly indicate what work i need to complete and help make sure i am staying on track. My assessors support me to progress. I have monthly meetings to see how i am getting on with not just my NVQ but how everyone is treating me at work etc.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • the Level three NVQ qualification that i am working towards will not only allow me to get a job in the industry afterwards, but it also helps me replay the information i have already learned in my head so i can have a better understanding and retain the information better.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I do many extra-curricular activities to do with work. My manager helps me get involved with STEM events where i can try to inspire young engineers, we have massive networking events where i can network with the whole Pyramid from the people at the top to other apprentices, i also have opportunities to participate in Boeing engagement days where i can help future apprentices get the job!

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Id recommend it because it gives you an opportunity to work in one one the largest, most changeling, and most competitive industries on the planet. so if you are willing to work hard you are guaranteed to succeed which is helped by working for a great companies with even greater managers to support and push you to reach you maximum capacity.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Boeing?
  • Do it, work hard and you will never look back.
