I write code that supports key systems used by internal employees. I work on the front-end technology using JavaScript and React framework. On a day to day basis, this involves attending daily stand-ups where the team gives an update on our updates and progress, and a retrospective every 3 weeks to reflect on the previous sprint.
I have learnt technical skills in programming including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and React. I've learnt problem solving, testing and debugging, and performance optimisation through coding. I've gained an understanding on database management and web design principles as well. I have also developed soft skills in the apprenticeship programme including communication skills, presentations skills, collaboration and leadership.
My enjoyment of the programme is deeply tied to my passion for learning, solving problems and exploring new technologies and innovation. I find satisfaction in successfully creating solutions, collaborating with people and overcoming obstacles. My personal fulfilment stems from my commitment to continuous improvement and aligning my career aspirations within the field.
My programme is structured well, enabling me to fulfil my responsibilities in my role on top of my commitments as a student at university. I'm given 1 day per week to focus on my academics which constitutes 20% of my working hours. My role is relevant to my apprenticeship programme as well which helps in collating evidence to meet the standards checklist for my End Point Assessment.
I feel very well supported by NatWest. The company provides valuable guidance, resources and mentorship to help me grow and succeed. Regular check-ins, constructive feedback and opportunities for hands-on experience contribute to my development. their commitment to my learning journey fosters a supportive and encouraging environment for my professional growth.
My training provider offers a foundation, yet there's room for improvement in supporting my learning. They deliver essential materials and guidance but could enhance the delivery of lectures and the depth of knowledge given. A more proactive assistance and more hands-on technical training would greatly enhance my learning experience and better prepare me for the modules.
The given training works in harmony with my role since I am on the Software Engineering pathway. The acquired skills and knowledge have empowered me to tackle tasks more effectively since I have gained the foundational knowledge to understand underlying concepts. I feel more confident in handling challenges and contributing to projects.
I am an Apprentice Council lead and I organise networking, social and volunteering opportunities for fellow apprentices. I proactively reach out to the wider-apprentice community to promote events and I support the Early Careers team in their endeavour to enhance the apprenticeship experience for new joiners and existing apprentices. I am also a member of the Christian Network in the bank, where I get to fellowship and network with other Christian colleagues.

Do your research and ensure that you like the programme you're applying for because challenging times will come in your studies and day-job and you'll need the motivation to keep going. Ask questions on LinkedIn from somebody who is already in the programme you're going for because they would have a more tailored answer that will help you in your application.
