  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Day-to-day, I review the tickets within my stack, after this I review my tasks that have been assigned too me in both the delivery and operations teams, this can include installing new probes, configuration of network devices and location of equipment. I also am expected too review any other work that has not been assigned too me and be proactive with reaching out for new work.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how too manage my time, with different types of work within different sub-teams I am apart of I learnt how too manage different priority's according too time and agreements. also, I have learnt how too manage responsibility, with important business work - which can be overwhelming but learning mechanisms too manage that has been important.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my program very much, I like working with a team and with my other apprentice. I also like the community feel that Computacenter have created around apprenticeships. I wish my learning with my training provider could be more interactive but they have put on workshops and residential programs too help with my learning

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The overall apprenticeship program has a good structured feel too it, from HR to my education provider to my line manager; with frequent communication with HR and ones too one about my progress. I have a clear line of work of what I am working towards however sometimes I feel I would of enjoyed some planning initially from my work and from my education provider.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer, I can contact my line manager at any time, if I am new too a project I will receive an introduction meeting. I also receive good support from HR with one-on-ones and community calls.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I find that sometimes my training provider can be slightly hands off, however I have addressed this concern with them and they have rectified it, if we have a new project there will be a workshop on how too approach the project and what pieces of evidence we need.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I find the vender neutral qualifications that I receive will benefit me in my career since it is the foundations too other qualifications, as well as my training provider giving me vouchers too complete these exams. however I wish some of the learning can be more personal within the job role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • With Computacenter being a multinational company, we often have team members coming from other offices, when we have people visit from other offices we do a team building activity's. As an apprentice community we also have done a few out of office meet ups. My line manager has been largely supportive of these events and going too external networking events during work time too expand my soft skills.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I find that the community feel and the sense of being looked after is what makes me enjoy my work and being around work. If I have any concerns with my work or wellbeing I have multiple support networks and having a manager who cares deeply about my development brings me great trust for my development.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Computacenter?
  • understanding what the company does and who are customers are is essential, even if you are not part of a customer facing team, everything you do is for the customer. being yourself is also vital, in the assessments and interviews they want too see someone they want too work with; you should not hide your personality in the interviews.
