My role is usually consisted of checking in with my team in the morning and sharing the tasks we will be doing. I later review all my actions and start reaching out to stakeholders and compiling all the work I’ve had gathered into documents or excel sheets. I would also schedule meetings with executive members for their input on actions related to risk management and etc.
I’ve dramatically improved my social skills such as communication and confidence. I’ve learnt how to use industry wide acknowledged software. I was able to learn how to manage projects from first hand experience and how to lead people from talking to some of the senior managers at the company.
I enjoy to a good extend. The work and study balance is good, and the work that was provided to me by the company is always somewhat relevant to the apprenticeship projects that I’m working on. It was mostly the projects itself that were difficult to have signed off due to the mere size of the work needed to be included.
From the company wise, it was great. My learning mentor was always present on all the calls and regularly checking with me and provided me with extra resources for the completion of the projects. The learning mentor from the training provider was a bit more difficult- I had to chance my mentor a few mi this in due to a la o of communication and differences in character. The new learning mentor was much more understanding and I was able to build a better relationship with, they allowed me to have more freedom when it came to the language used in my projects and explained the areas I need to improve in more detail rather then just stating what I need to add, without the reasoning.
I had consistent support from my in work mentor and monthly meetings with the future talent team (a team within the organisation that handle the apprentices).
The support at the start was quite low as the mentor did not regular communicate with me via emails. Whereas the new mentor called me to my personal number to increase the efficiency of their communication and it was much appreciated.
Lots of volunteering with schools. Also a few networking events with technology providers that were possible due to the company’s network
Yes
There’s ton of opportunities available even to apprentices. There is a welcoming environment and a team of professionals that are there to always support either in the working environment, apprenticeship project wise or personal life
Be flexible and always speak up for what you want your career to look like
