My role involves studying for my CII exams whilst also gaining experience within underwriting and risk managements. I am expected to widen my exposure and utilise my team members for support and their experience.
I have learnt about the process of underwriting, how to approach a new risk, building relationships with external and internal stakeholders. As well as this I have improved my studying skills and demonstrated this through the exams I have passed so far.
I do enjoy my role and the programme. However, I do think there is room for improvement as the programme is very rigid in its format and not mouldable to each individual's preferences.
Well structured as there are monthly tasks and goals to complete.
My team leader is understanding and allows me to have plenty of time to study whilst also focusing on my day to day role.
Although communication from the training provided can be lacking in places, we know there is support in place if required.
The qualification allows me to build upon the skills I have now and learn about the industry as a whole to perform in my role and understand the wider market.
My workplace requires us to volunteer for organisation for 2 days a year and have chances for us to contribute to different charities every month. We also get opportunities to see brokers and build relationships with them.
Yes
Very helpful for a person looking to have an introduction to this business as they build your experience within the market as well as help you understand the role you're employed in.
Use your time well, utilise time you have to study and widen your exposure in any opportunities you are given.
