I work in the baby room in my nursery with ages of 4 months up to 2 years. I do observations and their baseline assessments as well as their 2 year checks. I do help with all the day to day duties aswell as having my own 6 key children in the room.
I have been working in childcare for 3.5years so I already had quite good knowledge but doing my apprenticeship I have learnt a lot about the reasons behind why we do it and how it benefits the children.
I have been really enjoying my apprenticeship and love learning new things.
The programme is well structured but the only downfall is that its not mandatory for employers to give you time out and if you have a child like I do at home it makes it impossible to do work at home. Realise uses one file and it is really outdates and old fashioned.
I receive time out and if I have a question they will support me but because time out is not compulsory I sometimes didn't get it. Especially at the start when I had a different manager, I didn't get any.
My trainer is very approachable and will always reply quickly if I ask something and we have regular catch ups.
It has made a massive difference on the way I work and why we do what we do. Since doing my apprenticeship I really want to move up and eventually become a room leader.

We recently got taken over by family first and we used to be with childbase. Childbase really make you feel appreciated as an employee. We used to get yearly bonuses and regular visits from the management at the top and staff parties and raffles and gift we get nothing with family first. when anyone visits from head office they don't acknowledge any of us staff.
