Housekeeping role consists of cleaning rooms and public areas for the arrival of new guests. Head Housekeeper role consists of managing the housekeeping team, including giving daily briefings to the team, allocating their daily tasks and checking their work once their rooms are completed.
developed computer skills by creating task lists, logging rejected linen etc. developed a good understanding of how to effectively check that rooms are up to brand standard. carrying out team briefings and working with the team has developed my communication skills.
I enjoy learning new things in the role, receiving help/feedback from my learning coach and seeing the outcome of my work e.g. working through aptem tasks, results of business project etc. However, I do get nervous with some aspects of the EPA such as the professional discussion and observation as I struggle to perform well under pressure.
the programme is structured well and my learning coach always makes time to have meetings with me as needed. I struggle to remember what is expected for some assessments so mock assessments for things like observation or pro discussion are helpful.
My employer allows me to learn and practise things I need to know for the role. I also work well with my Head Housekeeper who has experience of the role and encourages my progress throughout the apprenticeship.
My training provider helps me to see which tasks are expected of me and how long I have to complete them
I have learnt more about the processes of the role such as health and safety with chemicals, how to work effectively with the team etc.
Premier Inn works with Great Ormond Street Hospital charity to raise money with various events. I attended a 5K run with members of mine and other hotel sites and was able to raise money from friends and family.
