  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I lead he Indirect function within nPower Business solutions, I have 6 direct reports and 40 indirect reports. My team and I provide sales services to approximately 160 TPIs, who procure customers and agree contracts on our behalf.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Both, I have enhanced my existing skills around manging teams but also gained knowledge and skills across a variety of subjects such as Finance, leading sustainable organisations, Strategy and Change management,. The programme has also given me the experience of working with organisations other than my own.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy the programme, it can be very hard work and time consuming but my organisations has been extremely supportive in terms of time and opportunities to apply my learning.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Extremely well structured, each module is delivered by a specific lecturer who has real work and academic experience. We have regular catch up withs the cohort lead and my academic mentor.The only area for improvement is the portfolio software used which can be clunky and not user friendly.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer allows me to have 1 day per week to focus on my studies as weel as the time for lectures, I have monthly catch ups with by employer mentor.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Lots of regula support from post module catch ups to refine the assignment to monthly academic mentor catch ups and regular catch ups with the cohort lead.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has given me a broader understanding of theories and concepts and through the assignments has allowed me to focus on my own organisation which can then be implemented internally.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • My employer runs apprenticeship away days each year, where colleagues from across the business on any level of programme come together and learn about what's happening within the organisation, network and recognise each others achievements.

  • 9a. Would you recommend E.ON to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • EON have supported me throughout my career and through the apprenticeship scheme they have enabled me to gain learn whilst earning. I do not have a university degree and they have supported me to obtain my Level 5 in operations and now working towards my L7.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to E.ON?
  • If you want to be involved in an industry that can really make an impact, if you want to drive your career and feel supported along the way then you should absolutely apply. I have worked here for 17 years which I think says something about the organisation.
