  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to support the Human Resources team with responding to email, queries, shadowing meetings, and learning! I also help out the Health and Safety team with queries and auditing.

  • Yes I have learnt a range of new skills and have developed on the skills I already have. An example would be communication skills and being able to voice my opinion, talk with a range of people, and raise questions.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Although I have only just started, I am enjoying my programme to a large extent. I love learning new things.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very structured - I already have review meetings booked for April 2025! A clear pathway to the end point assessment.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I regularly have one-ones with my manager, and I actively receive support on a day-to-day basis from my colleagues.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Whilst I have only just started, I have already received lots of support from my training provider. She has scheduled in our 1-1s meetings already, and responds very quickly to my emails.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • For me to progress in HR, a Level 3 qualification will help me do so. Also I can actively apply what I learn on the course to my day-to-day activities working in HR.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a few occasional extra-curricular activities, but this is something in the future I would like to increase.

  • Yes

  • Very nice and welcoming working environment. The local government have lots of amazing benefits! Very flexible too!


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Dover District Council?
  • To opt into the Pension Scheme, and take advantage of all the staff perks.
