Audit of financial accounts. This involves reviewing client accounts, to ensure information is disclosed fairly. We also test the accounts on a sample basis, and can make adjustments to the accounts, often increasing or decreasing profits by thousands of pounds. This involves a lot of multitasking, and talking to clients, however the role is very interesting, as you can be with new people on new jobs every few weeks. The job is satisfying as you feel that you have an impact, and feel part of a team.

I very much enjoy this programme, and feel that I am treated well, and get a good sense of job satisfaction. I also enjoy that each week can be different.
I feel very valued by BDO, with managers giving personal feedback on job performance, as well as being known personally by other people at BDO even if they are higher-up.
Very well organised, with support throughout. As a lot of learning is on the job, people are always happy to help. College is clear an concise, and exam-focused. I always know what i'll be doing, as we have a firm-wide calendar telling me when I am booked to which jobs.
I receive regular catch-ups, and am able to contact them whenever I need help.
BDO is a very supportive firm, always looking to help out their employees. If I go to them with an issue, it is always dealt with very well.
BDO pays a very good school-leaver salary, and also pays for expenses for travel to places away from the office. This means I am not out-of pocket. I have easily saved up a lot of my salary in the months I've worked here.
There is a wide social focus, with company events regularly. BDO also supports 10 days paid community involvement per year. They also have a strong LGBT community.

They are the perfect middle-ground between large audit firms [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] who often treat you as "just another number", and have repetitive disconnected jobs. BDO has more variety than smaller audit firms have to offer, and I often find myself working for clients which I've heard of.
Be confident, you don't have to have accounting knowledge. BDO is very social-focused, and the people who work there don't fit your typical idea of accountants/auditors. Look online for hints and tips, and apply to other audit firms first so you can practice assessment days/interviews - that way you'll be more confident when applying at BDO.
