I organise training for the business relating to people, business and IT skills. This includes sourcing external venues, making payments via purchase order, faster payments or card transactions. I also assist with managing some of my colleagues diaries. I don't have much exposure to our HRSSC but this is something I would like to have.
I have learnt about the full employment lifecycle, current legislations including updates to bills and all things HR related as a people professional. I have developed my problem solving skills which now enables me to work more effectively and efficiently in my day to day role to exceed expectations in the workplace.
I thoroughly enjoy my programme. I think the content of the modules are in great depth, the assistance provided by my lead trainer is exceptional and the general support with assignments is great. I have gained so much knowledge throughout the programme thus far and am excited to learn more in the last 2 modules.
My programme is structured very well with the way my bud activities are planned out and assigned. I think there should be fewer bud activities to complete due to my role being very busy. I also think there should be more breaks included in the monthly workshops as the amount of learning can be very overwhelming.
My employer supports me the best they can. As previously mentioned, I would like more exposure to the main HR team, our HR Shared Service Centre, however that is not possible currently due to the businesses current situation. I have bi-weekly mentoring sessions with our apprenticeship manager who supports me when required. This has been very beneficial.
My trainer, is exceptional at what she does. The amount of time and support she offers me is vastly different to that of my previous trainer who I was assigned at the start of my programme. She gives in depth notes and tips for the CIPD assignments and is always on hand to assist me.
By gaining a vast amount of knowledge and understanding throughout this programme, I am better able to contribute to new developments in the business and assist our employees better. Having a more complex awareness of certain topics has already enabled me to share tips and insights to my co-workers to better themselves also.
We host a quarterly online conference for all the departments that make up our HR team here. We use this time to discuss upcoming projects, reflect on the previous quarter and raise any issues we may have to gain feedback and collectively come up with a new process to ultimately, better support our employees.
Yes
They are very supportive of learning and development in your lifecycle. They offer a vast range of courses that are available to all employees and encourage apprenticeships for all ages to change the way people view learning nowadays. They have many networking groups available to learn about the business and what they do.
I would suggest researching the business thoroughly before applying to get a good understanding of what they do and provide to their customers. I would also evaluate your career path and aspirations to see whether they can aid you in achieving your goals throughout your chosen time in the business.
