As a data analyst, I take on ad hoc data requests by my colleagues to make better-informed decisions in their supervisory work. This often involves retrieving information from internal or external data sources and then manipulating, visualising, and transforming the data using Python or Tableau.
As someone who has no coding background nor a technical understanding of data analytics, I have developed all my skills from the ground up during this apprenticeship. Within the first three months I had familiarise myself with Tableau becoming adept enough to lead my own projects and deliver on it.
The apprenticeship is made enjoyable by your team, who understand you are new and slowly ease you into the work, ensuring you are not under pressure and stressed immediately after joining. You get to learn new things that can be applied straight away, and no two weeks are the same. Being paid is also a bonus!
Senior colleagues are always available and willing to answer any of my questions, no matter how time-consuming they may be. The early career team remains a constant support throughout the apprenticeship, helping you out when needed. There is no shame in asking for help, and everyone is extremely receptive when doing so.
The FCA is brimming with extracurricular activities, and the barrier to entry is just you asking. There are many sports and informal activities available, as well as professional networking events open to all.
Yes
The environment is very relaxed, colleagues are friends and most importantly there is career progression within your role.
Before applying, read up on the FCA, specifically what they do, what their core values are, and understand why working at the FCA matters to you.
