I partake in procurement and raising orders for works required on site. I manage subcontractors and assess their applications for payments/ invoices and pay them according to this assessment. I forecast future expenditure and uplift orders for further/ future payment. I issue variations and instructions to subcontractor works. I provide evidence for the AFP submitted to the client for the project to be paid.
I have developed the skill of multitasking and being able to prioritise things that are more urgent but still be able to keep track of ongoing tasks. I have also built my confidence in excel and using formulas to make a live sheet to help my day to day activities
I enjoy my programme because I work with a good team of people who are always willing to be patient and teach me when I have queries and they help me progress as a trainee. I also love a good challenge and they push me to attempt new things to progress my career and gain more experience
The programme is pretty organised - it is a bit hard balancing studying and working at the same time but the time in college/ study week gives us some time to catch up on assignments
I receive a good amount of support - my colleagues/ manager are invested in my progression
I receive a lot of support from the training providers at LCB. The lecturers are quite helpful and attentive to any questions I may have
My qualification helps my role by providing me with some background knowledge that often feeds in to my work on site
At work, we do social events often for team building and we also partake in lots of social value. I have visited universities and schools for career fairs to talk to students that may be interested in the construction industry and my field.
