Working with teams to create tools, dashboards and models which will make their processes or products more effective and efficient. A typical day involves both meetings and independent work. There are a variety of different projects in different areas of the business and using different data science techniques.
I have learnt multiple programming languages and how to use Power BI, Power Apps and Power Automate. I have also increased my business knowledge and team working skills.
I really enjoy my programme. Especially due to the variety of the work, seeing its importance and working with a great group of people.
The programme is fairly well structured with the aim to learn easier aspects earlier in the course. However, this varies based off team needs.
I receive a huge amount of support from Unilever in both academic and personal areas. Everyone in the company is always happy to support and the large amount of people means there is always someone with the knowledge you need. I am also given as much time to work on university assignments as needed.
Support from the training provider is often limited. However, this often depends on module lecturers and has improved as the course progresses. Support sessions can now be booked with lecturers to get extra help.
Many of the aspects taught by the training provider have given me skills to complete better work in my role. I haven't yet applied all learning to my role but can see potential future uses for these areas.
We have monthly team socials which provide a great opportunity to get to know other employees on a personal level. There are also sessions and events just for apprentices.
