In my day to day role I support the plant process which involves troubleshooting, raw material evaluations and general testing. Every week I conduct a weekly safety and calibration check on the labs. I am part of supply chain so work with lots of different departments including communications and production.
I have developed confidence and communication skills in my role as well as practical skills such as test methods. I have also learnt a lot about the regulatory environment on a chemical plant.
I enjoy some aspects of the degree, some of which I find quite challenging but do not dislike regardless of this. The professional side of the apprenticeship I enjoy less due to a lack of structure in my training and my team.
The program by Manchester met is very well organized/structured with skilled lecturers and well explained content. The work based section of the program is less organized but supported by the university.
I receive support with a flexible university day and plenty of help from collogues in proof reading of assignments etc.
I receive a lot of support form the university not that I have sought it out often. Whenever I have, the lecturers and skills coaches have been very understanding and helpful.
I think that the qualification supports my understanding of the chemical theory behind my role which therefore furthers my learning.
I am involved in a women's network but not really any teams.
No
