My role is to oversee the apprenticeships programme within TUI. I work with all business areas to identify growth and development opportunities for colleagues. I also work with external training providers to support our delivery of all programmes that are available. I will also look to introduce new programmes within TUI.
I have developed a more strategic way of thinking and have a better understanding of business strategy and the importance of having a strategy in place and how this contributes to business performance. I have also learnt an understanding of financial statements and now have more responsibilities within finance in my role.
I have enjoyed being able to put into practice what I am learning and have a better understanding of different management styles and how I have adapted these for the different people I manage. I have also learnt that how to do Gannt charts and manage projects which has helped in my role.
The programme has been clear and structured and I have an understanding of the sessions and what the expected outcome of these sessions are. Some lectures have been challenging but the university have addressed these. We have clear deadlines for assignments and feedback is timely from them and we have ongoing support from the university.
I am fully supported by my mentor on my apprenticeship who I have monthly calls with to discuss my programme and identify any support needs I may have and I am given regular apprenticeship time each week to ensure that I am able to complete my assignments and meet the off the job time.
I have fortnightly visits to the university where we have 2 half day sessions where we focus on specific topics and have time to reflect on what we have learnt. I also have regular ELT meetings where we complete reviews of progress but they are also available outside this time for information and advice
I feel that it is helping me perform better in my role, I have been able to take different approaches to situations I may have not done before and I have gained more knowledge in areas that I do not have business experience in and I have also seen an increase in my confidence
I am part of a number of network groups within TUI and there are a lot of different and diverse groups to join. Every team also completes a community day where we can spend time working with a local charity. I also attend a lot of careers fairs to support our local areas
Yes
TUI really values the colleagues that work for them. There is a real focus on wellbeing at TUI and they are an organisation that really want their colleagues to enjoy working for them. I feel supported to develop within the organisation and there are a lot of additional benefits that you may not get at other organisations.
Be yourself in your applications, TUI want all colleagues to come as they are which is great. I would also say really understand the values of TUI and ensure that they align with your values, you want to be able to enjoy working for an organisation and having aligning values helps
