12 3 month placements over 3 years in a variety of different business areas such as; Supply Chain, Procurement, Planning, Project management, Facilities Management, Production facing roles and much more. As an apprentice you are often given your own role within these business areas and you are really pushed to contribute.
Negotiation skills, managing expectations, managing stakeholders. Throughout the scheme you will work with and interact with a lot of different types of people and levels, this gives you a great grounding for when you complete your apprenticeship as you have a great understanding of how to deal with relevant parties.
I really enjoyed the programme, the combination of getting your degree and having real-life work experience is invaluable. The fact you are also guaranteed a full time role on completion of your apprenticeship really adds to the security you get on this apprenticeship.
Very well organised. You are rotated every 3 months into a new team and new environment. This helps you at the end of your scheme to understand what your strengths and weaknesses are and where you would like to get a full time role.
The level of support is fantastic. You have a dedicated early careers manager throughout your scheme as well as placement managers in each of your placements. There is a really strong ex apprentice population too, so in the majority of placements you will be buddied up with someone who did the same or similar scheme as you, so there are always people to go to.
You have a well rounded support system on this apprenticeship as you undertake your degree at Coleg cambria in north wales but you also have the support from swansea university as well where your degree will actually come from. Airbus also offer day release to apprentices in half term time too so that we can work on our assignments.
A lot of the modules directly relate to roles within the organisation. For example, supply chain and procurement are dedicated modules on the scheme but you will also visit those areas within your placement rotations where that background knowledge is directly relatable.
Airbus Broughton has a really strong Gen-A community, run by apprentices for apprentices. Gen-A organise all the social events such as nights out but also things like weekly after-work football which is very well attended. There are also yearly events such as the Golf day and Football tournament that are really well supported by the busienss.
Yes
Airbus really look after their apprentices. There are thousands of apprentices that start on the variety of different schemes every year, so you will never be on your own. There is a real emphasis on you finding out what areas you really enjoy and they do their very best to find a role for you within that area.
Show interest in the organisation and never be afraid to ask questions. Do your research and make sure you understand the scheme before applying and also make sure you have a bit of background knowledge on Airbus and its variety of different sites, especially in the UK.
