In my role, a day to day basis includes answering phone calls and emails to support over 6000 workers across 10 ports around the country and Ireland, with their queries. I also work alongside the recruitment team with helping create and post adverts to our careers website throughout the day.
In this role, I have learnt how to use Microsoft tools and commands more efficiently. I have also gained more confidence over the phone when dealing with employees around the country. I have also settled into the office environment and work schedule being Monday to Friday with the weekends off.
I do enjoy the role and programme that I am currently working towards. I am also happy based on the duration of the apprenticeship and am happy to work for the entirety of the length of it. I also enjoy commuting back and forth between work and home every day.
So far within the first few months, I like the organisation from the trainers side as well as the online website they use. The preparation they provide with months in advance gives me plenty of time to plan out my work and how to efficiently get my work done efficiently and on time.
In terms of support from my employer. I receive full support and work amongst the team performing the same day to day tasks as them. Since I have a lot of questions based on the fast paced environment, I always get answers and am learning everyday based on the new situations constantly arising.
Since I work from home on my apprenticeship, and am the only apprentice in the office. Support from my employer isn't easy. However, my training providers are always prepared to answer any questions I have and they schedule monthly meetings in which I attend to. These meeting always provide extra support.
I feel that throughout the apprenticeship, the support from the trainers and people that I work with, well boost my confidence and therefore boost my working ability. Everyone at my work has allowed me to settle in well so I can get comfortable, this will help me towards working better.
At my work, we arrange group meetings or events when something important is occurring. This helps towards improving relationships between the team members, I personally think it has helped me get to know some of my co-workers more. Due to the scale of the business, it is hard to create activities for the entirety of the work force.
Yes
The company has a wide range of roles to choose from. Many different pathways and opportunities for anybody to apply. All of the people I have met enjoy their work and enjoy the leadership running the team. And everybody I have communicated with over the phone enjoy coming to work.
My main tip for people joining the company would be to not to worry about the scale of the company. Which ever team a person will be placed into, will be looked after and treated like a family. I would also advise to expect change, since the company is ever changing and never remaining stationary in its work.
