I'm a secondary school laboratory technician, I prepare practicals that are carried out within classrooms and maintain a healthy and clean lab environment. I assist teachers in practicing practicals they may be unfamiliar with. I also help ensure science equipment is functional and to report any faults I may find.
I've learned communication as this was a very difficult area for me as someone who finds it hard to speak to others. Teamwork have been greatly improved with my coworkers. I've learned how to use a lot of equipment I never had the chance to use before such as working a oscilloscope, or erying
I enjoy it a lot, I am extremely happy with the programme and the placement I am in, I have improved many skills and everyone is extremely supportive.
The programme is very clear and structured with a clear plan and timing with what I must acomplish.
I receive a lot of support from my employer and they offer plenty of support to help me with my apprenticeship.
They offer a lot of support and help plan the best possible way to continue my apprenticeship and get work done with the timings I am given and my situation of travelling to and from work.
They broaden my knowledge such as in the laws that surround labs and are relevant to the lab, such as chemical storage, usage, and disposal.
I assist in science clubs and a primary school out reach where students from a primary school comes to the secondary school to perform safe science experiments.
