I maintain the Mainframe environment and systems, as well as manage incidents and apply changes.
I have learnt how to do coding such as JCL, how to work as a team and navigate the workplace environment.
I enjoy my work more than university, this is due to the environment, as well as enjoying the content and topics of my job role more.
Work is very structured and organised, however university is less organised. We only find out about timetabling last minute, it is structured well but isn’t perfect.
Work is very supportive and great!
I would say there is support available but sometimes it’s not always clear what support they can provide. I would prefer to go to work for the support as I’m more comfortable there.
I would say first year isn’t super linked to my job role, but in second year and so on once we are on the specific pathway it will be more helpful.
Maybe, it depends on when they are on.
