  • Civil engineering but part of the construction delivery team. Time split fairly evenly between office and site, looking at package progress, safety and structural QA.

  • Time management, communication upwards and downwards and engineering technical knowledge and practice.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • On-site activities are very enjoyable and interesting. I am more of an real-life learner, so prefer my experiences at work to university.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • University day and internal training days have fallen on the same day this academic year, which means I haven't attended any internal training sessions. The rest of the scheme is extremely well structured.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have a great project team, including my line manager, and can reach out to a range of people in the business. Overall, very good.

  • They are offer a lot of support when I have had to reach out.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It helps for the fundamental knowledge of construction works. I've found it especially helpful for my role as temporary works supervisor.

  • Social events within the project team, ranging from evenings out to golf days. Networking events

  • Yes

  • Spend a lot of time and resource on apprentices to aid their development.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace?
  • Be honest in your interviews. Mace are looking for great and interesting characters so make sure you show yourself as someone more than the average Joe.
